Stuart Locke

Head Coach/Co-Founder/Co-Owner

My name is Stuart and Iā€™m one of the founders of Kodiak Barbell

My training background starts in highschool with me training for football. I began training at 160 lbs, and within 5 months was 205. I graduated highschool 2 years later at 230 lbs. This was possible through one simple thing-relentless effort. Tireless dedication to training sessions when I was in the gym, and focusing on eating as much quality food as possible to develop my undersized body for football.

It worked-I was recruited to play football at the University of Ottawa, where I was part of the team for the 2012-2013, and 2015-2016 seasons. I also was fortunate enough to be a 2 sport athlete and played the 2013-2014, 2014-2015 seasons with the University of Ottawa Men's Rugby team. During my second season of rugby I was elected captain and was also responsible for the facilitation and advisement of the strength and conditioning program for the team that season.

After football was over, the drive for progression didn't stop. I began competing in powerlifting and have actively competed in that since June of 2016. I have a best competition total of 1857 by way of a 716 squat(sleeves), 424 bench, 716 deadlift-giving me a best wilks of 488.

David Wray

Co-Owner/Co-Founder

My name is Dave, and I am one of the founders of Kodiak Barbell.

My background begins in the military when I enlisted in 2006. strength training was always a key component to my success within the Canadian Armed Forces. In 2009 I completed my selection process for Special Forces and graduated as a badged operator after an intense course.

Maintaining a high level of personal fitness was a constant necessity in order to continue to serve as a Special Forces Member. My career as a SF member has taken me around the world a few times. One thing remained constant; strength means everything.
